Job Description
Optum Insight is an innovative healthcare technology company dedicated to improving the flow of health data and information to create a more connected and efficient healthcare system. As a part of UnitedHealth Group, Optum Insight leverages deep industry expertise and advanced technological solutions to reduce costs, improve risk management, and enhance quality and revenue growth for healthcare organizations. The company serves as a critical link between care providers, payers, and consumers, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration within the healthcare ecosystem. With its commitment to delivering results that improve lives, Optum Insight fosters an environment of caring, connecting, and growing together.
The Care Management Assistant (CMA) role at Optum Insight is a vital administrative position focused on supporting the Care Management Team through clerical, secretarial, and administrative duties. Working onsite at the office located in Boulder, Colorado, this full-time position operates Sunday through Thursday with flexible 8-hour shifts within standard business hours. The CMA supports licensed clinical staff by coordinating post-acute care activities such as skilled nursing facility arrangements, home health care, durable medical equipment, and hospice services. The role also involves handling revenue-related functions including authorizations, certifications, and communications with payers. Emphasis is placed on maintaining confidential patient information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and optimizing the productivity of licensed staff through effective clerical support.
In this role, the Care Management Assistant serves as the department’s point of contact for receiving and forwarding communications professionally and promptly, managing office supplies and equipment, and keeping accurate departmental records. Tasks include scheduling referrals and follow-up appointments, updating post-acute care providers on patient care plans, documenting insurance authorizations and denials in electronic medical records, and assisting with patient or family documentation under clinical staff supervision. The position may also require multitasking across auditing, transcribing, faxing, filing, and editing documents relevant to care management. Employees in this position are expected to be flexible, potentially assisting other departments as patient needs evolve.
Optum Insight offers on-the-job training tailored to individual schedules, ensuring new hires gain the necessary skills to succeed. The compensation for this CMA position ranges from $20 to $36 per hour, depending on experience, education, and local labor market conditions. Additional benefits include a comprehensive package featuring incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase options, and a 401(k) contribution plan. Joining the company means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive workforce committed to helping people live healthier lives and addressing health disparities through equitable care. Optum Insight values innovation, collaboration, and continuous development, providing clear direction and opportunities for career growth within the organization.
