As the intellectual hub of the University, CAS is home to over 800 faculty members across more than 50 departments and programs that span the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. This college is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective communication skills among its students to empower them to tackle real-world problems. CAS staff and managers play a crucial role in supporting the college's academic excellence and advancing the overall mission of both the College and the University of Oregon. The CAS Travel department functions within the College of Arts and Science Division of Administrative Services (CASDAS), providing travel support to CAS faculty, staff, students, and guests. The team's mission centers on delivering superior customer service and expert assistance throughout all aspects of business travel.
The CAS Travel and Guest Services Manager position is a salaried, full-time regular role located in Eugene, Oregon. This position reports to the Senior Director of CASDAS and is integrated within the CAS Dean's office structure. With a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 per year, the role involves leading and overseeing daily travel operations to ensure compliant, efficient, and customer-focused travel services. The manager will be trained as an Authorized Travel Processor authorized to approve a wide range of travel reconciliations, including requesting, booking, and processing travel arrangements. In this capacity, the manager is responsible for making significant decisions aligned with IRS guidelines, UO travel policies, and best business practices, particularly when authorizing travel reimbursements or evaluating requests for travel exceptions.
Key responsibilities include interpreting federal, state, and university policies related to travel operations; providing continuous support to travelers and administrators; ensuring travel arrangements meet compliance and institutional interests; managing CAS travel resources and priorities; supervising and supporting the CAS Travel team; and evaluating performance and workload. The manager collaborates closely with other university units, including the Business Affairs Office Travel Office, to maintain excellent partnerships, policy compliance, and operational harmony. The role also supports strategic planning, vision development, and goal-setting efforts for CAS Travel. This position suits a professional with management experience, strong customer service skills, knowledge of travel-related laws and policies, and the ability to analyze data and resolve complex travel issues calmly and effectively. The University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health and retirement plans and paid time off. The University of Oregon is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity, accessibility, and accommodation for employees and applicants with disabilities.
