Job Description
About: This job opening is with a well-established restaurant known for its classic approach to dining and excellent customer service. The company operates in the fast-paced food service industry, providing quality meals and a unique dining experience to its customers. The restaurant emphasizes a welcoming environment and exceptional service, focusing on guest satisfaction and quality control. The position available is for a full-time Carhop, a role integral to the seamless delivery of the restaurant's products directly to guests. This position requires a mix of physical stamina, customer service skills, and operational efficiency. The Carhop works under the supervision of the Manager on Duty (MOD) and is classified as nonexempt, meaning eligible for overtime as per labor regulations.
The Carhop position is pivotal in maintaining the high standards for which the restaurant is known. This role involves delivering food products to guests, ensuring each order meets operational, quality, and appearance standards before it reaches the customer. Carhops are responsible for carrying and balancing trays weighing up to 25 pounds, showcasing physical agility and care. Providing friendly, quick, and polite service is essential in this role, aiming to enhance the dining experience through prompt response to guest requests and efficient handling of payment processes, including accurate and quick change making.
Additionally, the Carhop is tasked with clearing trays and trash from various areas including vehicles, patios, the drive-thru, and the parking lot, helping maintain a clean and pleasant environment. Service quality extends to complying fully with company policies, procedures, and operational standards, as well as performing regular cleaning and sanitation duties that uphold the restaurant's hygiene standards. These duties include trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease.
The job also has additional expectations such as reporting customer complaints and employee issues to the MOD, moving and stocking food product weighing up to 50 pounds, and for those trained as Skating Carhops, performing duties on roller skates. The latter requires completion of specific training requirements and demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing a unique and dynamic dining experience.
Time and shift expectations for the Carhop include irregular hours, with work during nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational needs of the restaurant industry. The work environment demands continuous physical activity such as standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, lifting, and skating. Employees should be prepared for exposure to heat and hot liquid shortening in the cooking areas, frequent exposure to freezer conditions while stocking food, and occasional exposure to extreme temperatures outdoors, dependent on weather conditions.
This full-time role offers an opportunity for individuals who enjoy dynamic work environments, physical activity, and direct customer interaction, enabling them to be part of a team committed to quality service and operational excellence. The position demands reliability and an enthusiastic approach to customer service, as the Carhop plays a key part in the overall guest experience and operational success of the restaurant.
