Job Description

This job opportunity is with a well-established restaurant renowned for its unique drive-in dining experience and exceptional customer service. The company prides itself on offering a nostalgic yet efficient approach to fast food dining, blending traditional service with a vibrant, engaging atmosphere suitable for all ages. Known for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, this restaurant fosters an environment where employees can thrive professionally and personally. The position available is a Carhop role, which is critical in maintaining the seamless delivery of food products to guests in a timely and courteous manner. This role is a frontline position that directly interacts with customers, ensuring their dining experience is enjoyable from start to finish.

The Carhop position is categorized as nonexempt, meaning it is an hourly role with pay commensurate to experience and location standards, and involves irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. The immediate supervisor for this role is the Manager on Duty (MOD), who oversees daily operations and supports the Carhops in delivering excellent service. The primary responsibility of the Carhop is to serve food products to guests promptly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of product quality and appearance before delivery. This includes the physical ability to carry and balance trays weighing up to 25 pounds, demonstrating not only strength but also agility and balance. Carhops must provide friendly, quick, and polite service to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and valued.

In addition to serving food, Carhops are responsible for promptly responding to guest requests, assisting with payments, and accurately making change. Clearing trays and trash from guests’ vehicles, patio, drive-thru, and parking lot areas is also a part of the role, ensuring the restaurant environment remains clean and inviting. Compliance with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards is mandatory, as is participation in regular cleaning and sanitation duties to maintain hygiene and safety in the restaurant environment. This includes trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying grease. Regular attendance is essential to maintaining reliable service levels.

Carhops with skating abilities have additional duties which include performing their job while on roller skates, completing special skating training requirements, and handling food products weighing up to 50 pounds. These requirements reflect the dynamic nature of the role, especially in locations where skating Carhops are a tradition. The job demands a high level of physical activity, including continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, lifting, and skating. The work environment can expose the employee to heat, hot liquids, and varying temperatures depending on the weather conditions, which requires adaptability and resilience.

Overall, this Carhop position offers a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy customer service, fast-paced work environments, and physical activity. It provides a platform to develop interpersonal and multitasking skills while being part of a team that values customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This role is ideal for those who are enthusiastic, dependable, and motivated to contribute to a positive dining experience for guests.
