Job Description

REM Community Services, a proud member of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a part of Sevita, a nationally recognized leader in home and community-based specialized health care, REM Community Services is committed to empowering people to live full, more independent lives. For over 50 years, Sevita has been innovating and enhancing care for tens of thousands of individuals across the United States, supported by a passionate team of 40,000 employees. The organization's core belief is that every person has the right to live well and that everyone deserves to build a fulfilling career. By joining REM Community Services, you become part of a mission-driven team that values meaningful relationships, personal growth, and community inclusion.

This opportunity is for a part-time weekend caregiver position offering competitive pay at $21.00 per hour. As a caregiver with REM Community Services, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with developmental disabilities grow, learn, and achieve their personal goals. Your daily responsibilities will include assisting participants with personal hygiene, supporting behavior management, and encouraging involvement in community activities that bring joy and fulfillment. You will foster genuine, meaningful relationships with those you support, demonstrating patience, compassion, and respect.

The role requires a combination of compassion and professionalism, as caregivers must be prepared to handle participants with complex needs and behavioral challenges. You are trusted by leadership to act with integrity and support participants’ developmental goals, such as budgeting, exercise, and nutrition. REM Community Services values caregivers who take initiative to create engaging experiences that enable participants to enjoy their favorite activities and feel included in their communities.

Beyond the rewarding nature of the work, Sevita provides substantial benefits to its employees. Full-time staff have access to a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, dental insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% company match. Even part-time employees benefit from a supportive network of supervisors who prioritize both participant wellbeing and employee development. Continuous learning opportunities and training are offered to help caregivers build meaningful, long-term careers. Job security is a hallmark of working with an established, growing company dedicated to improving lives.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least six months of experience in human services, direct care, or care coordination preferred. Strong communication, adaptability, and time management skills are essential, along with a patient, compassionate, reliable, and responsible demeanor. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance is required to facilitate transportation for participants as needed.

Choosing a career with REM Community Services means joining an inclusive and equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on any legally protected basis. Sevita encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply and explore careers that are truly well lived. Join the team and make a difference every day by supporting individuals in achieving greater independence and quality of life.
