The Caregiver / Direct Support Professional role at RHA Health Services is a rewarding opportunity for compassionate, dedicated, and personable individuals eager to make a tangible difference in the lives of people with disabilities and mental health needs. This regular, full-time position offers a competitive pay rate of $15.68 per hour and involves weekend availability to adequately support the diverse schedules of the individuals receiving services. As a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional, you will provide crucial assistance in daily living activities, community engagement, personal care, and advocacy efforts. You will collaborate closely with individuals to help identify and communicate their needs and goals, implementing tailored support based on their Centered Plan. This role requires a strong commitment to person-centered care, respect for individual autonomy, and the ability to build empowering relationships that encourage self-advocacy and independence.
In this position, you will advocate for the legal and human rights of individuals, promote health and safety, facilitate social interaction, and assist with independent living skills such as housekeeping and personal hygiene. You'll support individuals in community activities, transportation, and informed decision-making related to living arrangements, employment, and recreation. Additionally, you will maintain accurate documentation of services, assist with medication administration while ensuring confidentiality and ethical care standards. Your role will be vital in connecting individuals to community resources related to education, career development, and volunteer opportunities, contributing to their overall well-being and integration into the community.

Job Duties
- Advocate for individuals’ human, legal, and civil rights
- promote health and safety by supporting wellness initiatives and accident prevention
- encourage self-advocacy and empower individuals in making their own choices
- facilitate community engagement by accompanying individuals to work, recreational activities, and social events
- teach and support independent living skills, including household management and personal care
- provide transportation for appointments, errands, and community activities
- foster social connections by supporting relationship-building within the community
- support informed decision-making regarding living arrangements, employment, and social activities
- assist with personal care tasks, such as hygiene, bathing, dressing, and household chores (laundry, cleaning, and decorating)
- maintain accurate documentation of provided services and support
