D&S Community Services, a valued part of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing exceptional community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As an organization, Sevita has a mission-driven culture focused on ensuring every person has the right to live well and fostering fulfilling careers for its employees. Founded over 50 years ago, Sevita has grown to support more than 50,000 individuals across the United States with a team of approximately 40,000 employees. The company is recognized for its commitment to quality care and individualized support that promotes independence and personal growth, regardless of the challenges individuals may face due to physical, intellectual, or behavioral conditions. Sevita places a strong emphasis on innovation and compassionate service, making it a leading provider in home and community-based specialized healthcare services.

This particular role is based at the Cinco location in Lubbock, Texas. It offers a part-time schedule focusing on weekend shifts every Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm, with an hourly rate of $9.00. The position is an important part of the team responsible for delivering direct support to individuals enrolled in residential or periodic programs. The role requires working with small groups, often supporting between 4 to 6 individuals in residential settings or up to 10 individuals in other programs. The non-exempt, hourly role entails assisting clients with personal care, socialization, skill development, medication administration, and health maintenance activities in alignment with individualized service or program plans.

As a Direct Support Professional, the successful candidate will engage in diverse responsibilities including aiding daily living activities like housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community integration, shopping, and citizenship. This role demands detailed progress documentation, behavior management, maintenance of confidentiality, and fostering healthy relationships with the individuals served and their families or guardians. Employees also play a vital role in ensuring compliance with safety protocols, reporting incidents promptly, and supporting health care directives which may include accompanying individuals to medical appointments and medication administration.

Sevita and D&S Community Services promote a supportive work environment where teamwork, respect, open communication, and timely attendance are highly valued. The position recognizes the importance of teamwork and respect for contributions of others, further supported by ongoing training, safety adherence, and participation in staff meetings. Transportation duties may also be involved, requiring a valid driver's license and adherence to safety regulations during vehicle use. Employees are expected to maintain a safe and clean environment through routine housekeeping and minor repairs.

Candidates interested in this role should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with six months of experience in human services preferred. They must be at least 18 years old and possess working knowledge of computers. Valid driver's license, car registration, and vehicle insurance are required if transportation duties are undertaken. Employees must also complete state-required training and certifications within mandated timeframes. A key requirement for employment with Sevita includes undergoing drug testing and thorough background checks to ensure the safety of all individuals served.
