Job Description
D&S Community Services, a valued member of the Sevita family, specializes in offering community-based services tailored to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Operating as an integral part of Sevita, which is a leading provider of home and community-based specialized healthcare, D&S Community Services is deeply committed to empowering the individuals they serve to live meaningful, independent lives. Sevita’s overarching mission is to provide high-quality, individualized support that fosters growth, independence, and a life well-lived for people facing various intellectual, physical, or behavioral challenges. With a legacy of over 50 years, Sevita has grown to employ over 40,000 dedicated team members who serve more than 50,000 individuals across the United States. The organization’s culture is rooted in compassionate care, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to the dignity and rights of the people they support.
D&S Community Services is currently seeking part-time caregivers to join their team at the Goldenrod site located in Kyle, Texas. This role offers weekend daytime and afternoon shifts, with pay starting at $10 per hour. Notably, applicants are not required to have a GED or high school diploma, making this an accessible career opportunity for motivated individuals who are eager to make a difference in their community.
As a caregiver at Sevita, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive. This position is ideal for compassionate, patient, and reliable individuals who find meaning and purpose in supporting others. Caregivers help participants with personal hygiene and assist those who may have behavioral challenges or other complex needs. Beyond basic care, caregivers support the individuals in achieving developmental goals such as budgeting, exercising, and maintaining proper nutrition. The job also involves fostering community involvement and encouraging participation in favorite activities, which helps enhance socialization and quality of life.
The work environment at D&S Community Services is team-oriented and mission-driven, where employees are entrusted with ownership and trust from leadership to make decisions that prioritize the well-being of the people they serve. Employees are proud of the rewarding nature of their work, knowing they are contributing to others’ growth and independence while forming meaningful relationships. Supportive supervisors and a strong organizational culture ensure caregivers feel valued and equipped to succeed in their roles.
Sevita offers competitive pay with a unique Pay on Demand option, providing financial flexibility. Additionally, while this specific role is part-time, full-time employees benefit from a comprehensive package including a 401(k) plan with a 3% company match, paid time off, holiday pay, and ongoing learning and development opportunities. The company emphasizes job security as a stable and established provider in a growing field dedicated to specialized health care.
Joining D&S Community Services as a caregiver is a chance to build a fulfilling career without the traditional educational barriers. The company values experience in human services, direct care, or care coordination, but it also welcomes individuals ready to learn and grow within the organization. Communication, adaptability, teamwork, and time management are essential skills that help caregivers thrive in this role. Patience, compassion, reliability, and responsibility are core behaviors expected of all team members. While a valid driver’s license is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.
Sevita is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and inclusivity. The team does not discriminate on any legally protected basis and actively encourages a workplace culture where all employees can bring their authentic selves to work. This commitment reinforces the company’s founding principles of respect, dignity, and empowerment for both the people served and its workforce.
In summary, this role offers an empowering career path with flexible hours, meaningful work, and a supportive company that invests in its people. If you are driven by a passion to support individuals in leading fuller, more independent lives and want to work for a proven leader in community health services, consider applying to D&S Community Services today.
