Job Description

This particular position offers the opportunity to work part-time, primarily on weekends with hours from 8 am to 8 pm, located at the 91st site in Lubbock, Texas. The wage for this role is $9 per hour. The position is non-exempt and hourly, supporting a schedule that fosters a balanced lifestyle for staff dedicated to making a positive impact. As a direct support professional, the role is integral to providing hands-on assistance and caring support to individuals in residential or program settings.

The scope of this role focuses on delivering direct support to a group of 4 to 6 individuals in residential programs or up to 10 individuals in other periodic programs. Responsibilities include administering individualized service plans that address socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, and skill development. This position is designed for someone eager to assist with activities of daily living, ranging from personal care and housekeeping to recreational activities, transportation, community integration, shopping, and citizenship. The role calls for an individual who is committed to maintaining healthy and respectful relationships with the individuals served, their families, and other stakeholders, including case managers.

Essential job duties encompass direct support tasks such as behavioral development assistance, medication administration monitoring, accurate documentation of progress, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. The professional must comply with safety standards, report any incidents of abuse or neglect, and uphold the rights and dignity of those supported. In addition, the role may require accompanying individuals to medical appointments, ensuring adherence to health care directives, and managing medication delivery with precision.

This position demands a person who values teamwork, effective communication, and workplace safety, complying with all company policies and procedures. The physical requirements of the job include performing heavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and registration if they are to provide transportation for individuals.

The educational preference is a high school diploma or equivalent with six months’ experience preferred in human services, although those new to the field are encouraged to apply and will receive the guidance and training needed to succeed. Employees will participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and safety activities, contributing as valuable members of a compassionate team.
