Job Description

D&S Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, is a respected provider of community-based services dedicated to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is to champion the right of every person to live well, fostering environments where individuals can thrive and enjoy fulfilling lives. Serving the Lubbock, TX area, specifically at the Hyden site location, we are committed to delivering personalized and compassionate care that supports independence, dignity, and quality of life. Founded on principles of respect, dignity, and empowerment, Sevita and its subsidiaries like D&S Community Services bring over 50 years of experience and innovation in specialized health care to the communities we serve.

Sevita’s extensive network encompasses more than 40,000 dedicated team members who support approximately 50,000 individuals across the United States. Our community-based approach means that employees work closely with individuals in residential settings or periodic programs, providing tailored care that addresses both personal and health-related needs. As a part-time role available primarily on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., this position offers an hourly rate of $9.00. We value the contributions of every team member and foster a supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and personal satisfaction.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role is central to the fulfillment of our mission. This position is designed for compassionate individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a DSP, you will be responsible for providing direct support to small groups of individuals—typically four to six in residential settings or up to ten in periodic programs—within a single program or unit. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, transportation, socialization, health maintenance including medication administration, skill and behavioral development, and community integration.

Beyond hands-on care, the role requires diligent documentation and record-keeping to ensure continuity and quality of care. Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the rights of those served is paramount, as is adherence to all safety and health guidelines. This position provides an opportunity to build strong, supportive relationships with individuals, their families, guardians, and case managers, always following Sevita’s Customer Service Standards.

The role also carries essential employment responsibilities such as adherence to schedules, participation in training, and active engagement in maintaining a safe work environment. Driving may be required as part of the role, to transport individuals safely within the community, which demands a valid driver's license and compliance with all driving policies and regulations. This is a physically demanding role, requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally, reflecting the dedication and resilience necessary to support the well-being of the individuals served.

Sevita is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring all qualified applicants receive consideration without discrimination. Joining our team means becoming part of a mission-driven organization that values your contribution to creating lives well-lived for the individuals we serve. If you are passionate about making a genuine difference and ready to engage in challenging yet rewarding work, this opportunity with D&S Community Services in Lubbock, TX, is ideal for you.
