D&S Community Services, a proud member of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing compassionate, community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sevita is a leading provider of home and community-based specialized healthcare services, committed to enhancing the lives of people facing physical, intellectual, or behavioral challenges. Founded over 50 years ago, Sevita has grown to support more than 50,000 individuals across the United States through a workforce of approximately 40,000 team members. Its core mission focuses on fostering growth, independence, and a fulfilling life experience for every person served. The organization upholds important values aimed at respecting the rights of individuals and promoting their full participation in the community.
The part-time position based at Primrose in Lubbock, TX offers a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven team that creates meaningful relationships and impactful support. This role is specifically designed for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities by providing direct services and support over weekends—from 8 AM to 8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. With a compensation rate of $9 per hour, the role emphasizes direct support within a residential or program setting, allowing you to work closely with small groups of individuals to help improve their daily functioning and social integration.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) serves as a vital contributor to the support system for individuals receiving services. You will assist with personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, community integration, medical appointments, medication administration, health maintenance, and skill development. This role requires documentation and reporting to ensure the highest level of care and safety, as well as collaboration with families, guardians, and healthcare providers. Working in this capacity offers a highly rewarding experience, blending caregiving, advocacy, and teamwork to enable those served to live well and realize their potential.
This non-exempt, hourly role also involves important responsibilities such as vehicle operation for community transport, adherence to workplace safety protocols, and participation in ongoing training and staff meetings. The position requires heavy physical work at times, emphasizing the need for strength and stamina. A valid driver’s license and a commitment to safety are critical requirements for this job, as you may be responsible for transporting individuals safely within the community.
Sevita prioritizes inclusivity and equal opportunity employment, encouraging individuals from all backgrounds to apply, as it does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, citizenship, or other legally protected statuses. Joining Sevita means becoming part of a dedicated team that believes deeply in the right of every individual to live a fulfilling, independent life supported by quality care and individualized services. This position is not only a job but a chance to cultivate a career well lived and make a measurable difference in the lives of vulnerable populations.
