The Care Center Representative (Call Center Representative) position at Mechanics Bank plays a crucial role in servicing the financial needs of clients through multiple customer care communication channels such as phone and web chat. This position is based onsite at one of the bank’s offices in Federal Way, WA or Irvine, CA. The Care Center Representative is responsible for providing premier customer service by efficiently managing customer inquiries and issues, ensuring that every interaction meets or exceeds service goals. This role involves handling a variety of customer service and referral calls and chat interactions with professionalism and a focus on resolution.

In this role, you will actively support the bank’s mission by assisting customers and prospects over the phone, electronic, and chat channels, marketing a range of financial products and services designed to meet customer needs. You may also aid other sales channels by helping open new accounts or guiding customers to appropriate banking departments. This requires using the bank’s chat library and tools to communicate effectively while maintaining compliance with policies and regulations.

Telephonic support is another key responsibility, where you’ll assist customers with traditional and electronic banking products. This requires solid knowledge of the bank’s offerings, policies, and procedures to use good judgment and reasoning when solving problems, all within your designated authority. You will gather information on service problems or complaints, escalate complex customer disputes when necessary, and resolve documentation errors.

The ideal candidate is a personable and resilient individual who can maintain a positive, can-do attitude while managing customer calls and chats. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet productivity goals are essential to your success. Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus but not mandatory. Mechanics Bank offers competitive pay ranging from $20.00 to $31.83 per hour, along with incentives through an annual incentive plan and bonus up to 5%. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a call center or related customer service role
  • Preferred experience in financial services or banking
  • Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Capability to manage stressful situations and meet productivity goals
  • Understanding of banking regulations and procedures
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Effective listening and questioning skills
  • Able to handle and de-escalate upset customers
  • Ability to work onsite at Federal Way, WA or Irvine, CA office

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1-year experience as a call center representative with demonstrated communication skills and telephone aptitude
  • Preferred experience as a financial services representative in a financial institution with good knowledge of bank operations, retail banking products, and banking regulations
  • Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm
  • Excellent collaboration and written/verbal communication skills
  • Friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help
  • Effective questioning and listening skills
  • Ability to manage difficult customer interactions
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret bank policies, procedures and regulations

Job Duties

  • Support the contact of bank customers and prospects through phone, electronic and chat channels to market an array of financial products and services
  • May be required to support other sales channels with opening of new accounts or assist callers with obtaining services through the appropriate banking departments
  • Utilize chat library and other tools to communicate with customers in accordance with the bank compliance and other processes
  • Provide telephone support for customers requiring assistance with both traditional and electronic banking products
  • Use effective and professional telephone skills in receiving and responding to all types of customer telephone inquiries, providing information on bank products, policies, procedures and programs
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the products and services being offered
  • Use judgment and reasoning skills to solve customer service problems within designated authority to handle chats or calls at point of contact
  • Collect information about service problems or customer complaints and escalates customer disputes to the appropriate manager for resolution if necessary
  • Complete research and resolves documentation errors or discrepancies
  • Forward more complex problems to management, as required
