The role of Echocardiogram Technologist (Echo Tech) within CHRISTUS Health is integral to its cardiac diagnostic services. This position involves performing diagnostic echocardiograms on both adult and pediatric patients, incorporating a variety of cardiac imaging techniques such as 2D, M-mode, and Doppler examinations. The Echocardiogram Technologist operates closely with cardiologists and multiple interrelated hospital departments to ensure smooth coordination of patient exams, effective communication, and precise documentation.

As an Echo Tech, you will be responsible for executing technically proficient cardiac ultrasound exams, preparing and measuring specific cardiac structures, assisting cardiologists during exam dictations by providing critical information, and acting as a liaison for timely delivery and distribution of medical dictations. Your role also involves responding compassionately to patient needs throughout the procedure, monitoring for any changes in patient condition, and reporting these promptly to the appropriate medical staff.

Another important aspect of this position is maintaining and ordering supplies for echocardiography, ensuring the exam rooms are orderly, and that all equipment is operational and well-maintained through quality control measures. You will also participate in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety.

Historical and contemporary knowledge in echocardiography is emphasized, and the technologist is encouraged to update skills continuously by consulting with cardiologists and engaging with advances in the field. Additionally, on-call coverage responsibilities require flexibility outside regular working hours, underscoring the role’s vital contribution to emergency cardiac diagnostics.
