Job Description

UCHealth is a leading healthcare system based in Colorado, dedicated to delivering outstanding medical care and promoting overall community health and well-being. Established as one of the premier healthcare providers, UCHealth operates multiple hospitals, outpatient centers, and specialty clinics to offer comprehensive services to patients. The system emphasizes quality, innovation, and patient-centered care, ensuring that every patient experience is safe, respectful, and efficient. UCHealth values its employees as its greatest asset and invests heavily in professional development, diversity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a supportive and dynamic workplace.

This position is based at the UCHealth Leprino Building AMC located in Aurora, Colorado, within the Cardiac Testing and Research Center (CTRC) Outpatient Department. The role is a part-time, onsite position scheduled for 40 hours per pay period, primarily during day shifts. Compensation ranges from $42.01 to $58.82 per hour, depending on the candidate's relevant experience. There is no option for remote or hybrid work, reflecting the role's requirement for direct patient interaction and use of specialized diagnostic equipment.

The primary responsibility of this role is to perform echocardiogram procedures, critical diagnostic tests used to evaluate cardiac structures and hemodynamics without supervision. This requires a high degree of expertise and judgment, as the technician must review patient histories and physicians’ orders carefully, educate patients about the procedure, and ensure patient cooperation to achieve accurate and effective imaging results. The echocardiographer independently conducts comprehensive exams, selects appropriate transducers based on patient anatomy, differentiates between normal and abnormal cardiac structures, and ensures sufficient information is captured for diagnostic purposes.

Additionally, the professional selects proper exposure settings and imaging parameters, administers contrast media or medications within their scope when required, and continuously monitors patient condition throughout the procedure. This role also involves ensuring adherence to safety protocols and performing quality control checks on echocardiography equipment, troubleshooting any malfunctions that arise. Post-procedure responsibilities include analyzing results, identifying potential imaging quality issues, and accurately entering and reporting findings.

Successful candidates must demonstrate critical thinking, decisiveness, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinical setting. They need to balance technical precision with compassionate communication to provide an excellent patient experience. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to advance their career in cardiovascular sonography within a supportive environment that values continuous learning, innovation, and high clinical standards. UCHealth supports its team members through comprehensive benefits and personal growth opportunities, making it a thriving workplace for dedicated healthcare professionals.
