Job Description
Young Life is a well-established Christian ministry organization dedicated to evangelism and discipleship, focusing on reaching young people across various communities through meaningful relationships, engaging programs, and spiritual development. Founded with the purpose of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, Young Life operates as a faith-based organization committed to nurturing the spiritual growth of youth while providing support and care through its unique ministry efforts. As a nonprofit, Young Life prioritizes building lasting relationships with kids, serving as a catalyst for positive change through mentorship, clubs, camps, and community involvement.
This particular position, the Capernaum Coordinator, is based in Greenville, South Carolina, and plays a critical role in the outreach and development of young people with disabilities. As part of Young Life's inclusive ministry, the Capernaum Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing programs specifically tailored to children with special needs, facilitating their growth within the Young Life community, and ensuring their full participation in spiritual activities. The role demands a strong commitment to Christian values, relational skills with children and adults alike, and a passion for discipleship.
The Capernaum Coordinator works closely with the local Area Director and volunteers to cast vision, build teams, and develop fundraising strategies that support this ministry's goals. This leadership role includes spiritual development responsibilities such as prayer, personal growth plans, and integration into the broader Young Life community. Leadership skills are vital, as the coordinator recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers and staff members while guiding spiritual and ministry strategies. Additionally, the role involves direct ministry work such as contact work, clubs, Campaigners, and camp activities that proclaim and model the gospel.
Resource development is another essential facet of this position, requiring the coordinator to build relationships with donors, manage communication, and oversee fundraising events. The role also includes administrative duties like maintaining records, adhering to organizational policies, and ensuring clear communication across all ministry stakeholders. Training and continual professional development are encouraged, including participation in mission-wide training and seminars designed to enhance ministry effectiveness and personal spiritual growth.
Because of the distinctly Christian purpose of Young Life, employees are expected to adhere to the organization's Statement of Faith, actively participate in ministry functions, and embody biblical standards in their conduct. This position requires a college degree preference, proven leadership and organizational skills, and a heartfelt calling to reach kids with the gospel. The working conditions may require handling the physical demands of camp environments, including exposure to various weather conditions and activities like hiking or boating.
Overall, the Capernaum Coordinator role offers a unique opportunity to serve in a vibrant ministry that combines faith, leadership, and community impact. Those interested in this position should be ready for a rewarding career that nurtures both spiritual and personal growth while making a real difference in the lives of young people with disabilities and their families.
