The role of Sommelier at Cantina Contramar is vital to the restaurante28099s continued success and reputation for excellence. This full-time position is responsible for managing and curating the wine and beverage program, ensuring guests receive a world-class dining experience through expert knowledge, elevated service, and impeccable presentation. The Sommelier will be entrusted with developing and maintaining an exceptional wine list that perfectly complements the exquisite culinary offerings of the restaurant and caters to a diverse clientele with varying preferences and budgets.

The Sommelier works closely with the Director of Wine & Spirits to source and select wines from reputable global regions, thoughtfully choosing varietals, vintages, and flavor profiles that enhance the food menu. Key responsibilities include educating guests and staff through wine seminars, tastings, and training sessions, elevating the overall wine knowledge within the team and providing exceptional in-depth descriptions and pairings to guests. This role also involves meticulous inventory management, vendor relationship cultivation, and overseeing the wine cellar to maintain integrity and quality.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • certified sommelier through reputable organizations
  • previous experience as a sommelier in luxury or upscale setting
  • extensive knowledge of wines including varietals, vintages, regions, and service best practices

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain an exceptional wine list that complements the resort's culinary offerings and caters to diverse preferences and budgets
  • source and select wines from global regions considering varietals, vintages, and flavor profiles
  • interact with guests to understand their preferences and assist in selecting wines that complement their meals
  • provide in-depth descriptions of wines including tasting notes, origin, and food pairings
