Job Description
The Director of Finance role is offered at a unique and historic dual-branded hotel property located in downtown Chicago, a National Historic Landmark originally serving as the headquarters of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. This property features two Hilton hotels, the 135-room Hilton Garden Inn and the 215-room Canopy by Hilton, making a combined total of 350 rooms and suites. The hotel is situated strategically across the street from the iconic Willis Tower, placing it at the heart of one of the busiest business districts in the United States. The building offers a rich blend of history and modern amenities, including conference rooms, lobbies, and an upcoming independent restaurant/lounge on the newly developed 16th floor. The hotel is undergoing significant improvements such as elevator renovations and additions to enhance guest experience and operational functionality.
As the Director of Finance, you will be the financial cornerstone of this lively and dynamic hotel environment. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial leadership, including budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss reporting, auditing, tax compliance, and payroll management. This leadership role holds a seat on the Executive Committee where you will contribute to strategy and decision-making that shapes the future and profitability of the hotel. The successful candidate will possess qualities such as honesty, integrity, and clear communication that foster trust and accountability. Beyond your expertise in finance and numbers, you will have a passion for team growth and development, acting as a mentor and motivator who inspires collaboration and sharp money sense among your finance team.
The role requires a hands-on approach to financial management with an emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight that maximizes profits and safeguards assets. You will lead budget planning sessions and provide department heads with the tools necessary to meet financial objectives. Your leadership will also extend to overseeing audits, managing capital expenditures, and ensuring the hotel maintains a strong and compliant accounting system. This position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact by driving financial success and contributing to a vibrant hotel experience that balances operational excellence with guest satisfaction.
With a competitive benefits package available following the initial employment period, including daily pay options, medical and dental coverage, disability income, life insurance, paid time off, an employee assistance program, and a 401k retirement plan, this position offers a rewarding professional opportunity within a prestigious hospitality environment. Join us to take your finance career to the next level while enjoying the challenge and excitement unique to this historic downtown Chicago hotel.
