The Lieutenant, Events Manager prepares Incident Action Plans (IAPs) to ensure that all events are carefully planned and executed, working closely with university event producers and external agencies when necessary. The position also involves supervisory responsibilities such as managing the Events Coordinator, overseeing the Events Team, and directly supervising the Traffic Officer Supervisor while indirectly overseeing Traffic Officers. A noteworthy aspect of the role involves serving as a Watch Commander during evening shifts, providing crucial supervisory guidance to personnel on duty and ensuring operational readiness and responsiveness during nighttime hours. Job Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina police certification
  • Minimum of 3 years law enforcement experience

Job Duties

  • Plan and develop all special events plans with university special events staff
  • Prepare written incident action plans (IAPs) to ensure smooth event execution
  • Coordinate with High Point Police Department and other law enforcement agencies as needed
  • Address logistical and operational needs for special events
  • Ensure proper staffing for all special events
  • Work as event commander during assigned events
  • Directly supervise the Events Team Coordinator and oversee the Events Team operations
  • Serve as evening Watch Commander providing supervisory guidance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Campus Police
