The Campus Executive Chef position at Washington University (WashU) in Saint Louis, Missouri represents a critical leadership role within Sodexo’s higher education division. This role involves managing all culinary operations on the WashU campus, overseeing resident dining services, retail operations, catering, concessions, and the on-campus restaurant. The Campus Executive Chef will lead a skilled team comprising six Executive Chefs and one Production Manager, ensuring that Sodexo’s culinary standards of quality, safety, and innovation are consistently met and exceeded. The role demands a strong foundation in culinary arts, combined with superior leadership, management, and communication skills.
In this role, the Campus Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing day-to-day purchasing, menu compliance, inventory control, food cost analysis, and forecasting food production needs. Furthermore, they ensure that all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards are strictly upheld in compliance with regulatory and internal Sodexo guidelines. This position requires proficiency in automated inventory and food management systems, allowing for streamlined operations and data-driven decision-making. The executive chef will also play a vital role in mentoring and developing culinary team members, encouraging innovation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
