The Executive Chef role at Genuine Foods is based in a Higher Education facility, where providing delicious, scratch-made meals to students and families is paramount. In this role, the Executive Chef is responsible for creating exciting, seasonal menus tailored to client preferences and nutritional needs. Collaborating closely with the culinary and operations management team, the Executive Chef oversees the onsite staff, ensuring all food production and daily service meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and guest satisfaction. This position demands leadership in managing a diverse culinary team, including scheduling, coaching, and performance management to foster a positive work environment. The Executive Chef is also heavily involved in menu development, costing, inventory management, and the logistical aspects of catering events and client visits. A key part of the job is analyzing meal participation data, client feedback, and kitchen staff retention to continuously improve food offerings and operational efficiency. Job Requirements

  • Must have at least 2 years of relevant experience in executive chef or chef manager roles
  • Ability to adapt to change, accept feedback and follow recipes accurately
  • Passionate about seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing diverse culinary teams
  • Dedication to ongoing learning and staff training
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency in labor and food cost management
  • Excellent people skills and team development focus
  • Technologically savvy and comfortable analyzing data and managing inventory

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in high-volume production, contract food service, healthcare, catering, hotel or restaurant settings in a Chef or Executive Chef role
  • Strong passion for seasonal ingredients and local sourcing
  • Experience leading teams with various culinary skill levels
  • Commitment to continuous learning and ongoing training
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills
  • Proven ability to manage labor and food costs effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy developing culinary teams
  • Comfortable working with numbers and technology

Job Duties

  • Generate seasonal and exciting menus with the culinary team while considering client preferences, tastes and nutrition
  • Collaborate with Regional Director to meet labor, food cost and efficiency standards
  • Oversee catering event operations including logistics, quality control, sanitation and food safety
  • Manage team member staffing, scheduling and coaching in collaboration with HR
  • Develop menus, costing, ordering and inventory management
  • Ensure availability of supplies and ingredients while minimizing waste
  • Maintain inventory records and invoicing
  • Comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Coach and manage culinary team to ensure daily food preparation and operational excellence
  • Continuously improve culinary operations from sourcing to recipe development
  • Oversee weekly profit and loss statements and communicate performance
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as meal participation, client feedback and staff retention
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
