The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMTC), is one of the largest public research universities in the United States, providing a vast array of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. The university is situated in a vibrant and diverse metropolitan area, spanning the campuses of Minneapolis and St. Paul. UMTC benefits from extensive partnerships with world-renowned health centers, international corporations, government agencies, and arts, nonprofit, and public service organizations. The university also earned Culture Excellence and Industry Awards in 2026 for employee appreciation and work-life flexibility. UMTC's dynamic environment fosters innovation, research, and a collaborative experience for students, faculty, and staff alike.
The Campus Concierge Officer role at UMTC offers a unique blend of hospitality and security functions, serving as the primary point of contact for visitors, staff, and students within assigned campus facilities. This position plays a critical role in promoting a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment by delivering exceptional customer service while actively supporting access control, monitoring security systems, and identifying and reporting safety and security risks. The officer operates under the University Security leadership and works closely with building managers, University Police, and other stakeholders to support daily operations and enhance campus safety. This is a full-time, in-person role that requires regular attendance, with no eligibility for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship or STEM OPT training programs.
In this role, the officer will be responsible for front-facing operations such as welcoming visitors, providing assistance and directions, and managing event and wayfinding support, ensuring an exceptional guest experience. They will also monitor and enforce building access policies, use CCTV and security technologies to maintain situational awareness, conduct routine security checks, and coordinate with University Police when necessary. Additionally, the officer acts as a building liaison, facilitating communication between university security and building management, supporting the implementation of site-specific security protocols, and being an initial responder to safety concerns and emergency situations.
This position requires a delicate balance of hospitality and enforcement responsibilities, strong observational and communication skills, and the ability to stay calm and professional during high-stress situations. The successful candidate will help maintain the high standards of safety and service that contribute to the university's welcoming and secure campus environment. UMTC values employees who demonstrate diversity, inclusiveness, and a commitment to excellence, making this an excellent opportunity for those passionate about public safety and customer service in a higher education setting.
