Job Description

The Orange County Fair & Event Center (OCFEC) is a renowned venue in Orange County, California, known for hosting the annual OC Fair, a celebrated event attracting thousands of visitors each year. This venue offers a diverse range of activities and accommodations, including extensive campground facilities that support the residential needs of fair participants and guests. The campground accommodates over 135 camping units, providing a unique and vibrant community environment during the fair period. The OCFEC is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, security, sanitation, and customer service, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for all visitors and campers alike.

The role of Campground Supervisor at OCFEC is a pivotal seasonal position, offering a rate of pay at $20.00 per hour. This temporary role, lasting up to 122 days, is integral to the smooth operation and supervision of the campground during the OC Fair. Reporting to the Commercial & Concessions Supervisor, the Campground Supervisor manages residential activities within the campground, ensuring compliance with rental agreements and venue policies. This role requires a hands-on leader who excels in communication and customer service, balancing operational duties with proactive problem-solving to maintain the high standards expected at OCFEC.

Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the campground, coordinating camper move-ins and move-outs, enforcing adherence to safety and sanitation guidelines, and acting as a liaison between campers and various departments within OCFEC. The Campground Supervisor will handle logistics such as rental agreement management, space assignments, and utility hookups, ensuring all campers have a positive and compliant stay. Additionally, the role demands vigilance in monitoring campground activities to swiftly identify and resolve any issues or violations.

Candidates will be engaged in detailed planning and execution processes, working closely with the Commercial & Concessions department before and during the fair. This position not only offers managerial experience in an event-centric environment but also requires a high level of adaptability, energy, and professionalism. The Campground Supervisor plays a critical role in fostering community spirit among campers while upholding the operational efficiency and safety of the campground. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 2+ years coordinating event aspects, with at least 1 year coordinating participants
  • valid California driver license

Job Duties

  • Gain full knowledge of OC Fair camping guidelines
  • represent OCFEC before, during, and after the annual OC Fair
  • participate in pre-Fair planning with department personnel
  • handle preparation and filing of campground rental agreements
  • prepare and update occupant lists and insurance certificate records
  • place and maintain campground space number signs
  • ensure campground readiness for Fair setup
  • direct and monitor camper move-in and move-out activities
  • conduct camper check-ins including verifying paperwork and permits
  • liaise between campground tenants and OCFEC departments
  • communicate to resolve campground deficiencies and rental violations
  • maintain camper information spreadsheets and campground maps
  • take photos of RVs and facilities for evaluation
  • manage extended stay lists for post-Fair campers
  • ensure compliance with fire, safety, and security regulations
  • respond promptly to emergencies
  • evaluate operational issues and recommend improvements
  • develop effective communication with internal and external customers
  • answer phones, voicemails, and emails in a timely manner
  • assist with administrative needs as assigned
  • work varied days and hours as needed
