Job Description
Sage Hospitality Group, in partnership with Cambria New Orleans Hotel, represents a forward-thinking and innovative presence in the hospitality landscape. Sage Hospitality Group has long stood out by moving beyond the conventional cookie-cutter approach, embracing creativity and individuality to redefine guest experiences at every turn. Rather than aiming to meet standard expectations of what hotels "should be," Sage focuses on what they "could be," lighting the way with authenticity and a commitment to excellence across all their properties. This ethos is embedded in every aspect of their operations, making Sage a coveted employer for individuals who thrive in dynamic, independent, and creative work environments.
Cambria New Orleans Hotel embodies this philosophy, offering a unique and authentic lodging experience that resonates with modern travelers seeking more than just a hotel stay. Sage Hospitality Group seeks passionate and skilled individuals who are unafraid to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to the table. Their team members are regarded as some of the best in the business – smart, calculated, authentic, and fiercely independent. The company culture fosters growth, creativity, and a strong sense of teamwork, ensuring every associate can contribute meaningfully while developing their careers.
The role in question is for a Food Preparation Associate at Cambria New Orleans Hotel, within the Sage Hospitality Group framework. This position is vital in delivering the high-quality culinary experience that guests expect. The associate will be responsible for preparing food items in accordance with established production requirements and quality standards, all while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment aligned with health and safety regulations. This role requires attention to detail, strict adherence to recipe cards, portion control, and the ability to follow operational procedures meticulously.
The Food Preparation Associate's duties extend to starting some food items ahead of time ensuring that production matches estimated needs closely without excessive waste. Proper handling, dating, and rotation of food containers as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are essential to maintaining the quality and safety of perishable goods. The associate will regularly check par stock for each shift, manage line setup, note shortages or out-of-stock items, and assist in keeping buffet areas adequately supplied.
Another important responsibility is managing food waste by supporting initiatives to control food costs and losses effectively. The role calls for physical stamina – lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying food items or equipment of considerable weight, as well as performing repetitive movements that include bending and standing for extended periods. Candidates need to be able to thrive in temperature-variable environments, from freezing conditions in walk-in freezers to the heat encountered on the cooking line.
Ideal candidates for this position will have a minimum of one year of food service or related experience, complemented by a high school education or equivalent. Knowledge of kitchen operations and cooking procedures is necessary for performing non-repetitive analytical work comprehensively. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are vital to understanding instructions and collaborating with team members successfully. Sage Hospitality Group values its associates' well-being and is committed to providing a safe workspace that accommodates employees' diverse needs.
By joining Sage Hospitality Group and Cambria New Orleans Hotel, employees become part of a vibrant team that values innovation, quality, and the courage to redefine hospitality standards. This role is perfect for those seeking a meaningful opportunity in a supportive, creative, and high-energy environment all while contributing directly to exceptional guest experiences.
