This position is based within Costco's bakery department, an essential area that contributes to the overall shopping experience by offering freshly baked goods, including cakes and cheesecakes. The role focuses on cake decorating and preparation, which involves cutting, filling, icing, and packaging cakes to meet special order and stock requirements. The job entails a variety of tasks ranging from checking orders and inventory to decorating cakes using pastry bags and tips and following specific assembly instructions provided in the Cake Decorating Manual. It is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment requiring strong communication skills and dedication to food safety and sanitation standards. The employee must follow Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP), as well as comply with Costco’s 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance and food safety certification requirements. The work may sometimes involve assisting other bakery or warehouse departments as needed, showcasing the company’s collaborative culture.

Job Requirements

- Ability to follow detailed instructions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Check cake orders stand for special orders
- Check daily inventory on the floor and pull stock from the freezer or cooler to fill the merchandise area
- De-pan, garnish, and package baked cheesecakes
- Place finished product on racks and transfer racks to cooler, freezer or wrapping area
- Check production schedule for daily needs
- Process all cakes following assembly instruction in Cake Decorating Manual
- Cut half-sheet cakes in half to prepare for filling
- Fill and ice cakes following weight instructions
- Decorate cakes per decorating guidelines
- Assist with other bakery duties as needed
- Provide prompt and courteous member service
- Follow SSOP guidelines for cleaning and sanitation of all equipment
- Complete and comply with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety certification, and all safety training
- Ensure proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials
- Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
- Assist with department duties as necessary
- Assist in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
