The Cake Decorator position at Giant Eagle plays a crucial role in the bakery department by ensuring pastries and cakes are both visually appealing and delicious. Employment type for this position includes hourly wages with a starting pay rate of $18.50 per hour. Job Duties

  • Fill tables and cases with cakes by taking product from prep area to sales area
  • follow proper procedures to ensure store meets out-of-stock percentage goals
  • apply merchandising principles that help to generate sales and wow the guest
  • take special orders from guests over the telephone and in person
  • maintain quality of product for sale by checking sales area for dates and product condition
  • document and/or record daily known loss
  • maintain safety for team members, guests, and products
  • provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers and assisting them
  • inspire fellow team members and guests with passion for food
  • properly handle products and equipment according to food safety guidelines
  • maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, and floor
  • prepare and decorate products for display cases
  • ensure product rotation and code dating procedures are followed
  • maintain proper safety and sanitation methods and emergency procedures
  • accurately record special orders
  • maintain department procedures including daily setups and order taking
  • stay updated on new product knowledge and procedures including mixing colors
  • ice and decorate cakes using spatulas and icing bags
  • prepare icing and products by reading recipes and measuring ingredients
  • assist in maintaining bakery backroom and unloading deliveries
  • operate department equipment including mixers, scales, airbrush gun, knives, cut gloves, and personal protective equipment
  • assist in other areas as required
