The role available is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and primarily involves responsibilities within the bakery department. This position centers on decorating cakes and other bakery products with creativity and precision, while also assisting with other bakery duties. The individual in this role is tasked with maintaining efficient bakery operations in accordance with company policies, ensuring that their shift contributes to the store’s financial success. Key tasks include baking, frying, pricing, labeling, wrapping, and merchandising bakery items, along with managing inventory and collaborating with the Bakery Manager for supply needs.
In addition to operational tasks, the role demands a customer-focused attitude, employing suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer experiences and satisfaction. Adherence to strict safety, food hygiene, and cleanliness standards is crucial to maintaining the department’s quality and compliance. The position requires physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift items throughout the shift within a typical retail store environment that may expose the worker to varied temperatures and outside weather conditions. The job may occasionally require tasks in other departments and involves teamwork to fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Job Duties
- Decorate cakes, cookies, and other items as determined by production schedule and customer requests
- Baking and frying duties as assigned
- Price, date, wrap and/or bag bakery products
- Properly fill, rotate and merchandise bakery shelves, cases and displays
- Notify the Bakery Manager if products and supplies need to be ordered
- Handle spoiled/damaged products per established guidelines
- Assist in receiving, unloading and stocking of merchandise
