The Cake Decorator role at Giant Eagle is a critical position within the Bakery team. As a Cake Decorator, you will be responsible for preparing and decorating cakes and other bakery products to ensure that only the freshest, most visually stunning, and delicious items are available for sale. This role requires a blend of artistic creativity, culinary expertise, and outstanding customer service skills. You will take special orders, decorate cakes using various techniques like icing application with spatulas and icing bags, and prepare icing and other decorative products by measuring and mixing ingredients accurately. The role also involves maintaining product quality, ensuring proper product rotation, and adhering to strict safety and sanitation guidelines in the bakery department. Teamwork is paramount in this position, as success comes from supporting your coworkers and inspiring one another.

In addition to cake decorating, you will engage with customers by providing knowledgeable and friendly service, answering questions, making product suggestions, and helping customers find the perfect bakery items for their needs. The position requires individuals who are willing to continuously learn new techniques and product knowledge, work efficiently with bakery equipment like mixers, scales, and airbrush guns, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods. To thrive in this role, you should be at least 18 years old and capable of passing a job-specific skills assessment or completing the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program successfully.

The hiring range for this Cake Decorator position is $17.50 per hour.
