Job Description

Cain Park is a renowned outdoor arts and entertainment venue located in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Managed by the City of Cleveland Heights, Cain Park offers a wide variety of cultural events including theatrical productions, concerts, festivals, and community programs that attract both local audiences and tourists. It is a vibrant hub for arts and culture, featuring a summer theater, art gallery, and educational offerings that enrich the community’s artistic landscape. The Park is not only a space for artistic expression but also a municipally-managed facility that requires efficient operations and strong management oversight to maintain its level of excellence and ensure the safety and satisfaction of patrons and performers alike.

The Operations Manager Assistant role is a key part-time seasonal position within the upper management team at Cain Park, directly reporting to the General Manager. This role is essential for the effective day-to-day facilities management of the park, particularly during the busy seasonal months starting from April through the end of the summer season. The Assistant helps facilitate a smooth start to the season by collaborating closely with the General Manager and Operations Coordinators in all aspects of park preparation, from administrative tasks to operational logistics.

In addition to administrative duties, this position involves supporting the hiring and coordination of running crews for theater productions, ensuring proper payroll and contact tracking is maintained in partnership with the Theater Production Manager. The Assistant is responsible for managing complex contractual agreements, including Equity contracts, payroll, and ensuring compliance with union and organizational policies. This role requires strict adherence to the budget and demands resourcefulness to maintain operations within financial constraints.

Practical responsibilities include processing weekly check requests, creating and maintaining spreadsheets related to revenue accounting and payroll, scheduling and supervising operational staff, and working collaboratively with City employees to address additional production requirements for festivals and park events. Safety is a paramount concern in all activities, and the Assistant is expected to maintain high safety standards consistently.

Moreover, the Assistant acts as a representative of the General Manager and the City of Cleveland Heights in his or her absence, making crucial decisions related to contractual issues, weather or patron emergencies, and generally upholding park policies and procedures to ensure a positive and secure environment for both performers and guests. The position demands flexibility, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

By the end of the season, the Assistant compiles a comprehensive final report summarizing seasonal activities, operational successes, challenges, and recommendations for future improvements. This report also includes an inventory of all production equipment, materials, and supplies, reflecting the Assistant's commitment to organization and accountability.
