Job Description

The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is a distinguished educational and healthcare institution located in Omaha, Nebraska. As an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer, UNMC is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, valuing the contributions of protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. The institution houses the College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP), which is committed to training future healthcare professionals through excellent educational programs and community engagement. The CAHP serves a vital role in advancing healthcare through education, research, and innovative practices, equipping students with the skills needed to excel in various allied health fields.

Within this dynamic environment, UNMC is seeking a talented and dedicated CAHP Events Coordinator to join the College of Allied Health Professions Enrollment Management & Student Affairs department. This full-time, regular position offers a hybrid work schedule with part-time onsite presence in Omaha, NE, and part-time remote work flexibility. The salary range for this role is competitive, between $54,200 and $75,900 annually, reflecting the importance and responsibility that this role holds within the institution. The CAHP Events Coordinator plays a crucial role in designing, coordinating, and executing multiple events that support the college's goals and student community.

The CAHP Events Coordinator will work with limited supervision and collaborate closely with various stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external vendors to manage all aspects of event planning and logistics. Key responsibilities include managing event budgets, securing and allocating appropriate spaces for events, coordinating with catering services, organizing registration processes, and adhering to timelines to ensure smooth event execution. This role demands a highly organized, detail-oriented professional possessing excellent communication and customer service skills. The successful candidate will apply their expertise to produce successful and memorable events that support the mission of the College of Allied Health Professions and enhance community engagement.

In addition to strong organizational and communication skills, the position requires familiarity with university policies and procedures to maintain compliance during event planning. The coordinator must also demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities as well as the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. The flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend hours is essential, as is the willingness to travel within the local community to support event execution. Applicants should also have experience in volunteerism and fundraising to contribute effectively to the college's outreach and development initiatives.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, hospitality management, English, or a related field. A minimum of two years of experience in event planning or coordination within an organizational setting is required. The role requires possession of a valid driver’s license and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Preferred qualifications include experience working in large organizations with supervisory responsibilities and familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Publisher software.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the vibrant community at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and help advance the College of Allied Health Professions’ presence through successful event management. The CAHP Events Coordinator will be a key contributor to fostering engagement among students, faculty, and alumni, making a positive impact through well-orchestrated events that embody the college’s commitment to excellence and service.
