The role of the Cage Shift Manager at the Pueblo of Santa Ana Casino is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all cage operations during their assigned shift. The cage is a vital component of the casino’s financial operations, handling cash transactions, verifying funds, and managing currency exchanges. As the Cage Shift Manager, the individual ensures the smooth coordination between productivity and customer service standards amongst Cage Cashiers. This position also entails direct supervision of cage employees, including managing schedules, performance monitoring, training, and addressing any operational issues or conflicts that may arise. The Cage Shift Manager must maintain strict adherence to casino policies, internal controls, and federal regulations such as Title 31 currency transaction reporting requirements, which are crucial for compliance and security.

This role demands strong organizational and mathematical skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and excellent communication capabilities to interface with multiple management levels and departments. The Cage Shift Manager is also responsible for safeguarding cage assets, preparing daily bank deposits, and ensuring proper key control and record-keeping. Furthermore, the position requires knowledge of gaming software systems, with preference for experience using IGT software, and proficiency in Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college coursework in finance or banking considered advantageous.

In addition, candidates need to fulfill certain requirements such as obtaining and maintaining a Pueblo of Santa Ana Gaming and Regulatory Commission key gaming license and having a smartphone capable of running company applications. Job Requirements

  • Preference given to qualified Santa Ana Tribal Member
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years cage experience is required
  • Some college courses in banking, finance or related area preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to successfully communicate with multiple levels of management
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must have advanced computer capabilities
  • Must be 10-key proficient
  • Must have knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software with use of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access preferred
  • Knowledge of gaming software systems required with use of IGT software preferred
  • A smartphone capable of running company applications and communication systems is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Pueblo of Santa Ana Gaming and Regulatory Commission key gaming license
  • All employees are required to proficiently use a smartphone for company applications, email, and text
  • Must be a detail oriented, organized individual with the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Review and make suggestions to cage employees daily work schedules
  • Monitor the performance of subordinates, ensuring adherence to Casino policies and procedures and the ICS
  • Perform even-money exchanges with other Casino departments
  • Perform functions of subordinate staff as required
  • Make recommendations for hiring, terminating and training cage employees
  • Plan, assign, and direct work
  • Appraise performance
  • Reward and discipline employees
  • Address complaints and resolve problems
  • Ensure proper preparation of the daily bank deposit
  • Maintain locked boxes for keys and the key control log and ensure proper issuance of keys
  • Ensure cage compliance with federal currency transaction reporting requirements of Title 31
  • Maintain awareness of all cage activity and safeguard cage assets
  • Review daily cash receipts and disbursements through the vault during their shift
  • Ensure all cash turned in by operating departments is properly verified and recorded
  • Verify and accept funds from hard and soft count
  • Obtain and maintain current information regarding applicable Tribal, State, Federal, and Gaming policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
