It operates a diverse portfolio of business ventures, which robustly support community development while preserving the rich culture and sovereignty of the Tribe. One of its dynamic divisions, WarHorse Gaming, operates within the entertainment and gaming sector. WarHorse Gaming is instrumental in managing the expansion of casino gaming at Nebraska's historic horse racing venues. These venues include prominent locations in Lincoln, Omaha, and South Sioux City. This division is a joint endeavor developed in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA), blending innovative casino operations with local economic and community interests. Rooted firmly in Tribal values, WarHorse Gaming aims to craft premier entertainment destinations that uplift and enrich regional entertainment experiences. The company culture is guided by its core NATIVE values which emphasize being Native American owned and proud, accountable, team-focused, innovative, visionary, and committed to excellence through continuous learning and performance.
The Cage Cashier position at WarHorse Gaming is a critical role focused on safeguarding company assets and ensuring financial integrity within the casino operations. As a full-time role based in Lincoln, NE, the Cage Cashier must be flexible and available to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the operational needs of the property. Compensation is competitive, with a salary of $18.50 per hour plus tips, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. This package includes medical coverage comparable to Federal Employees Medical Coverage, full insurance options, a 401K company match with immediate full vesting, a quarterly incentive program, and paid vacation, holiday, and sick days. Employees also enjoy a discounted meal program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to employee well-being.
The Cage Cashier is entrusted with various responsibilities that are fundamental to the gaming floor’s financial transactions. This role involves accurately balancing assigned cash drawers at the start and end of each shift to maintain precise bank records. The individual processes a variety of guest transactions, such as cashing gaming chips, tokens, TITO (Ticket-In, Ticket-Out) vouchers, slot machine payout tickets, and personal or travelers checks. Additional duties include performing debit card and EFTPOS cash advances and conducting rolling chip exchanges. The Cage Cashier also issues and replaces player club cards, assists guests with club issues, and shares information about player rewards, thus enhancing guest engagement and loyalty.
An essential part of the role includes maintaining accurate and legible balance sheets and transaction records, assisting the Cage Supervisor with shift records, and adhering strictly to confidentiality protocols regarding internal activities and sensitive information. The role demands delivering professional, courteous customer service in every guest interaction to uphold the company’s reputation for excellent service. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring frequent movement across the casino floor, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing and walking, and exposure to typical gaming conditions such as noise and secondhand smoke. Fine motor skills and effective communication abilities are critical for cash handling and interacting efficiently with guests and team members.
Ho-Chunk, Inc. and WarHorse Gaming embrace a mission-driven culture dedicated to economic advancement and community impact, with strong emphasis on diversity and equal opportunity. They seek candidates who are not only skilled but who also resonate with their NATIVE values and tribal-owned purpose. This position offers stability and opportunities for career growth in a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and professional development.
