Job Description

Emerald Queen Casino is a premier gaming and entertainment destination operated by the Puyallup Tribe, located in the Pacific Northwest. Known for its vibrant casino atmosphere, it offers a wide range of gaming options including slot machines, table games, poker, and bingo. The casino prides itself on providing exceptional guest service in a welcoming and exciting environment while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and responsible gaming practices. This establishment not only provides top-notch entertainment but also contributes significantly to the economic growth and community development of the region. It is committed to employing individuals who are dedicated, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to the casino's ongoing success.

The role of Cage Cashier I at Emerald Queen Casino is a crucial entry-level position within the casino's cage operations. The Cage Cashier is responsible for efficiently handling cash transactions, including receiving and exchanging cash, checks, and gaming chips from patrons. This role includes processing department fills, credits, and bank reimbursements while preparing accurate cash drawer reconciliations and accounting records. The cashier also manages departmental tokens and participates in revenue verification by receiving, verifying, and dropping all department revenue. Part of the role involves ensuring ticket redemption machines are operational and properly stocked with currency and coins, as well as handling cash revenues from count rooms and preparing daily deposits.

This full-time position offers a starting wage of $22.16 per hour plus tips, increasing to $22.72 per hour plus tips after a successful 90-day orientation period. Employees benefit from excellent employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. The Cage Cashier role demands strong mathematical skills, cash handling experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, often noisy and confined environment while standing for extended periods. Additionally, the position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and the mobility to navigate stairs regularly.

The Emerald Queen Casino is committed to diversity, providing equal employment opportunities, and applies Indian Preference in hiring according to tribal policies. All applicants must obtain a Class III A gaming license as required by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission, and comply with mandatory pre-employment drug testing policies. Certifications in responsible gaming, customer service, cash handling, Title 31 regulations, sexual harassment, and other relevant areas are required, ensuring employees are well-prepared and aligned with industry standards.

This position is ideal for individuals seeking a stable career in the gaming industry, with the opportunity to grow professionally within a reputable and community-focused casino environment. Candidates must be willing to work all scheduled shifts, including days, swings, graveyard shifts, and holidays, demonstrating flexibility and dedication to the role. Overall, the Cage Cashier I is a vital part of the Emerald Queen's team, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and superior service to both guests and colleagues alike, making a significant impact on the casino's operational excellence and guest satisfaction.
