Job Description

The hiring establishment is a dynamic and fast-paced casino environment where high energy and accuracy are critical to daily operations. This casino, known for its commitment to exceptional guest service and integrity, operates multiple Cage areas including ticket redemption units, vaults, and cage cashier bankrolls. As a Cage Assistant Shift Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all Cage-related areas during your assigned shifts. You will oversee approximately 20 Cage Cashiers and Cage Main Bankers, managing all aspects of their performance and daily responsibilities. Your leadership will include managerial duties such as interviewing, hiring, and training new team members, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing any issues or complaints swiftly and effectively. A vital part of your role is to ensure that all cash banks balance correctly and that any discrepancies are identified and reported promptly.

Your responsibilities will also extend to maintaining and ensuring the proper working condition of all cashier equipment and work areas, making certain that all operations comply with the casino's internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. This includes having a solid understanding and up-to-date knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws as well as federal and state regulations. Proficiency in managing high volume transactions using multiple software applications, electronic equipment, and point-of-sale systems is key. In collaboration with Investigations and Accounting departments, you will assist in performing investigations related to operational discrepancies.

Strong communication skills are essential, allowing you to interact effectively with guests and team members at all levels of the organization. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, climb, and move objects regularly, highlighting the active nature of the work environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • minimum three years related cash handling experience
  • previous supervisory experience
  • basic math skills
  • proficiency in standard office equipment and basic computer usage
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • excellent communication skills
  • flexibility to work various shifts including nights and weekends
  • physical capability to perform job duties including lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • willingness to wear required personal protective equipment
  • knowledge of gaming laws and regulations preferred

Job Qualifications

  • A high school diploma
  • three years of progressively responsible related cash handling experience
  • an Associate’s degree can replace one year of experience
  • previous supervisory experience
  • ability to demonstrate basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and counting US currency
  • proficiency with standard office equipment and basic computer knowledge
  • previous experience with point-of-sale systems preferred
  • ability to maintain discretion with confidential information
  • strong communication skills including speaking to small groups
  • ability to work irregular hours including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • physical ability to perform required job functions

Job Duties

  • Oversee the day to day operation of all Cage areas on assigned shift including Cage Cashier bankrolls and ticket redemption units
  • carry out managerial responsibilities according to organizational policies and laws including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing, appraising, rewarding, disciplining team members, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • ensure cashier equipment and work areas are in good working condition
  • ensure all cash banks balance and report unresolved cash variances
  • process, track, report and balance high volume transactions using various software and point-of-sale systems
  • assist Investigations and Accounting with investigation of cage operations discrepancies
  • maintain knowledge of local, federal, and state gaming laws and ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures
  • perform other duties as assigned
