We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time Cafeteria/Food Service Associate to join our vibrant team. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of hospitality and food service expected at Meriwether Godsey. The position requires working Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 3 pm, with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18 to $20. The Cafeteria/Food Service Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that involve direct customer interaction, food preparation, and maintaining a clean and sanitary dining environment.
The ideal candidate will greet customers with a friendly and positive attitude, ensuring a welcoming experience for all. They will operate registers, scanners, scales, and card terminals effectively and efficiently handle food exchanges. Additional responsibilities include transporting food and supplies to the serving area, assisting with the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of dining, food serving, and beverage areas. The role demands active participation in food preparation, replenishing counters and steam tables, and adhering to food safety standards to prevent spoilage.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization in dining and kitchen areas is crucial to this role. The associate will clean and sanitize work areas, dining tables, chairs, and equipment throughout and after meal periods, as well as participate in daily and weekly cleaning schedules to uphold sanitation standards. They will inspect workstations to ensure compliance with established service standards and contribute to safety meetings and hazard assessments to promote a safe working environment.

- Excellent communication and good organizational skills
- Flexibility to switch between locations and job duties
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred

Job Duties
- Greet customers with a positive and friendly attitude
- Operate registers, scanners, scales, and credit card/debit card terminals while handling exchanges in a quick, efficient manner
- Transport food and supplies to the serving area
- assist in the set-up, maintenance, and breakdown of dining, food serving, and beverage areas
- Serve and replenish food from food counters and steam tables
- Assist in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly store food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage
- Keep dining room areas and assigned kitchen areas neat and organized
- Clean and sanitize work areas, dining tables, chairs, and equipment throughout and after meal periods
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of other kitchen areas by following daily and weekly cleaning assignments
- Inspect workstations for compliance with service standards
- Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments
