Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food service or a commercial kitchen
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to lift 30-50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • consent to a background check
  • commitment to the Code of Conduct policy
  • completion of online and in-person trainings prior to hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • prior experience in food service or a commercial kitchen required
  • previous supervisory or lead cook experience preferred
  • knowledge of food safety practices (ServSafe certification preferred)
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to lift (e.g., 30-50 lbs) and stand for extended periods
  • experience working in a school or institutional food service setting preferred
  • familiarity with USDA school meal programs or willing to learn
  • experience managing inventory and ordering supplies preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with USDA and school nutrition guidelines
  • oversee daily kitchen operations, including food prep, cooking, and service
  • supervise and support cafeteria staff
  • assist with scheduling and training
  • ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • manage food inventory, ordering, and storage
  • monitor portion control and minimize food waste
  • maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen and serving areas
  • accommodate student dietary needs, allergies, and special meal requirements
  • collaborate with school administration on menus, events, and special programs
