Job Description

We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Cafeteria Head Cook to lead our daily kitchen operations. This role is essential in planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals while maintaining strict food safety standards that comply with USDA and school nutrition guidelines. The Cafeteria Head Cook will supervise kitchen staff, assist in scheduling and training, manage inventory, and oversee all food preparation and service activities. The position requires an individual who is organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and passionate about creating a positive dining experience for elementary school students. A successful candidate will work collaboratively with the school administration on menus, special events, and programs. This is a key leadership role within the school’s food service team, focusing on providing quality meals that support student health and academic success. Employment is contingent upon passing a background check, adhering to the school's Code of Conduct, and completing necessary trainings prior to hire.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • prior experience in food service or a commercial kitchen required
  • previous supervisory or lead cook experience preferred
  • knowledge of food safety practices (ServSafe certification preferred)
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to lift (e.g., 30-50 lbs) and stand for extended periods
  • experience working in a school or institutional food service setting preferred
  • familiarity with USDA school meal programs or willing to learn
  • experience managing inventory and ordering supplies preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with USDA and school nutrition guidelines
