Job Description
The Dallas Independent School District is a reputable educational institution committed to providing quality education and a supportive learning environment for students in the Dallas area. As part of its dedication to student well-being, the district operates various food service programs that ensure students have access to nutritious and balanced meals throughout the school day. These programs are designed to meet and exceed federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and reflect the district's commitment to fostering the health and academic success of its students. The district is currently hiring for the position of Cafeteria Supervisor at Hexter Elementary, an elementary school located at 9720 Wateview Road, Dallas, Texas. This is a full-time, day shift role with a minimum salary of $38,223 per year, spanning a 189-day work calendar.
The Cafeteria Supervisor plays a critical role in managing the food service operations within the school cafeteria. This role entails overseeing the preparation and delivery of quality meals that meet the standardized recipes and menus designed for students and staff alike. The supervisor ensures that all meals are well-balanced and nutritious, supporting the dietary needs and preferences of elementary-aged children. Beyond food preparation, the Cafeteria Supervisor is responsible for maintaining high safety and sanitation standards among the cafeteria staff to safeguard the health of both students and employees. Additionally, the role requires diligent adherence to food service program regulations, meal service accountability, and district policies to guarantee compliance and operational efficiency.
As part of the daily responsibilities, the supervisor will prepare and submit requisitions for food, supplies, and small equipment, aligning with menu requirements and delivery schedules to meet the demands of the cafeteria. They will also resolve internal issues within the cafeteria and escalate matters that cannot be managed locally to central administrative staff. Staffing management is another key component of this role, involving interviewing, training, planning work assignments, evaluating employee performance, and managing discipline and conflict resolution.
The Cafeteria Supervisor will maintain complete and accurate records for program accountability, including deliveries, cash receipts, and meals served, ensuring compliance with district and department policies. The role demands a hands-on leader who can effectively communicate in English, with the ability to communicate in Spanish considered an advantage. The successful candidate will have prior management experience in food service and possess certifications in safety and sanitation. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the wellness and nutritional education of young students within a respected school district, making a tangible impact on the community while benefitting from a stable full-time position.
