Job Description

Village Baptist Church is a faith-based community organization that operates various ministries including educational and service facilities. Among its many initiatives is its school cafeteria, a fundamental part of the community that provides nourishing meals to students and staff during the academic year. The church aligns its work with spiritual values that underpin its mission to connect people to Christ through acts of service and hospitality. This mission is not only central to the church’s religious activities but also informs the ethos and operation of its diverse programs, including food services. Village Baptist Church nurtures a culture grounded in biblical principles such as holiness, humility, honor, honesty, hospitality, and hustle, creating a warm and respectful environment for both employees and those served by its programs.

The Cafeteria Kitchen Manager position is a key leadership role within the church’s school cafeteria operations, reporting directly to the Director of Kitchen Management. This role entails overseeing the daily functioning of the cafeteria to ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely, safe, and sanitary manner. The manager is responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness, ensuring compliance with all relevant health department regulations. Additionally, this position involves supervising cafeteria staff and volunteers, fostering teamwork, and ensuring smooth coordination among team members to deliver excellent food service.

This role requires not only technical skills related to commercial kitchen operations but also strong organizational and interpersonal abilities. The Cafeteria Kitchen Manager must be adept at inventory and vendor management, minimizing waste, and supporting the implementation of menus and operational improvements that align with the school’s needs. Furthermore, the role may involve assisting hands-on with food preparation, service, and the coordination of special cafeteria-related events. This is a full-time, 10-month position operating Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM during the school year.

Village Baptist Church encourages its employees to regularly participate in worship services, either virtually or physically, to stay connected with the spiritual life and community activities of the church. The position is ideal for someone who is passionate about food service and hospitality in a school setting and who shares the church’s commitment to fostering a supportive, efficient, and mission-driven environment. Successful candidates will be those who embrace the church’s values and dedicate their work to supporting the overall mission of connecting people to Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission through their professional contributions in the cafeteria.
