The Cafeteria Cook role is integral to the smooth operation of the school cafeteria, reporting directly to the Cafeteria Kitchen Manager. This position supports the daily food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and kitchen assistance required to deliver consistent, safe, and appealing meals to students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will actively contribute to maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment, uphold rigorous food safety and hygiene standards, and collaborate effectively with the cafeteria team.

The Cafeteria Cook is expected to support not only the culinary functions but also to enhance the overall dining experience through friendly and professional service. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM during the school year, reflecting its status as a 10-month position.

Physical demands include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and continuous movement.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain and maintain certification upon hire
- ability to stand for extended periods

- must successfully pass all required background screenings for employment in a school setting
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain and maintain certification upon hire
- experience in food service, commercial kitchen operations, cafeteria service, or a related field preferred
- basic knowledge of food preparation and serving practices
- basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures

Job Duties
- Assist with daily food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly
- help ensure meals are prepared and ready for service according to established schedules
- serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards at all times
- maintain clean, organized, and stocked workstations
- assist with setup, service, and cleanup of meal periods
- support portioning, packaging, and presentation of menu items
- work collaboratively with the Kitchen Manager and cafeteria staff to maintain efficient operations
- assist with inventory organization, stocking, and storage of food and supplies
- contribute to a positive and team-oriented work environment
- assist in other areas of the cafeteria, including food preparation, serving, stocking, dishwashing, and cleanup, as needed to support the team
- perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Director of Cafeteria Operations
