Job Description
T. F. South High School is a part of a dedicated educational district committed to providing quality education and support services to students, faculty, and staff in a high-needs school environment. The school operates a cafeteria that plays a vital role in the daily operations of the institution by ensuring that nutritious, safe, and delicious meals are consistently available to students and staff. This role is essential in fostering a healthy and supportive school atmosphere where students can thrive. The school district emphasizes inclusiveness, adherence to health and safety standards, and continuous improvement to meet the diverse needs of its student body. The cafeteria operations team is a critical part of the district's commitment to student well-being and academic success through proper nutrition.
The Cafeteria Operations/Cafeteria Aide position at T. F. South High School is a full-time, non-exempt role that is integral to the cafeteria's smooth function. Reporting directly to the Chef or Sous-Chef, the incumbent will assist with the preparation, service, and sanitation duties necessary to provide meals in a fast-paced environment. Primarily engaged in food production and service, the role requires an individual who is diligent, safety-conscious, and customer-service oriented. The position offers a competitive wage ranging from $15.00 to $16.50 per hour, based on education and verified experience, along with substantial benefits including pension plans and paid breaks.
This role is pivotal within a school that prioritizes the health and nutrition of its students and staff. Responsibilities encompass assisting with food preparation alongside culinary leaders, handling cashier duties, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and adhering strictly to food safety regulations. The work environment involves moderate noise levels and physical demands, such as standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. This physically active role suits individuals capable of multitasking and performing various tasks efficiently within a communal setting.
Ideal candidates are those with a commitment to quality service, knowledge of food and beverage standards, and who are proactive about maintaining health regulations. While previous experience in cooking and food production is preferred, the district places emphasis on successfully passing mandated food handler training and assessments. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a high-needs educational environment, supporting student success through excellent cafeteria operations.
