We are currently seeking enthusiastic Cafe Team Members who are passionate about food, coffee, and customer service to join our team. This part-time position pays $21.30 plus tips, which average between $7.00 and $9.00 per hour, providing a competitive wage for individuals who embody our spirit of excellence and community engagement. Cafe Team Members will play an integral role in maintaining the welcoming and lively atmosphere of our cafes by providing top-notch customer service and preparing delicious menu items.
The role involves working flexible shifts, including retail open, mid-shift, and retail close, with a requirement to work weekends as Grand Central Bakery operates seven days a week, year-round. Team members will be actively involved in multiple duties such as running the sandwich bar, creating quality coffee and espresso drinks complete with latte art, serving bread and pastries meeting the bakery's high standards, and ensuring the café environment is clean and inviting at all times.
Beyond the technical skills related to food and beverage preparation, Cafe Team Members must embrace the company’s mission and values. They are expected to be collaborative team players who communicate respectfully, volunteer to support colleagues during busy times, and consistently deliver excellent customer service. Knowledge of the cafe’s point-of-sale systems, proper cash handling, and adherence to health and safety guidelines is essential.

- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required
- Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card
- Must demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality
- Available to work weekends
- Basic math skills required
- Must display professionalism and positive personality with customers

Job Duties
- Proficient on Point-of-Sale System
- Serves bread and pastry to customers while ensuring both meet GCB specs
- Makes and serves all sandwiches according to GCB specs including during a rush
- Makes and serves all coffee and espresso drinks according to GCB specs including during a rush and is proficient at latte art
- Displays product knowledge of all items on our menus
- Knows and regularly works the duties of multiple shifts including Retail Open, Retail Close, and Mid/Swing shifts
- Works in a way that maintains a clean cafe environment including bussing, washing dishes, and executing all necessary café cleaning tasks
