We are currently seeking passionate, energetic Cafe Team Members to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in maintaining the warm and lively atmosphere our cafes are known for while serving delicious food and drinks to a diverse community of regular customers. Cafe Team Members are the frontline ambassadors for Grand Central Bakery’s mission, ensuring that each visitor has a memorable experience fueled by excellent service and high-quality products.

The position is part-time, offering up to 24 hours per week with flexible scheduling to accommodate various shifts - including retail open, mid-shift, and retail close. The pay rate is competitive at $16.96 per hour plus tips, which average between $7.00 and $9.00 per hour, providing a rewarding compensation package for dedicated team members. Active and willing participation in multiple stations such as the sandwich bar and the barista station is expected to deliver a seamless and efficient customer service experience.

This role requires individuals who thrive in busy, fast-paced environments and who have the ability to manage frequent interruptions while maintaining excellent communication and customer service standards. Team members must be proficient in handling cash transactions, using company systems competently, and adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times. Alongside their operational duties, Cafe Team Members contribute to an inclusive atmosphere that supports Grand Central Bakery’s larger goals around quality, sustainability, and community engagement.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, and perform basic math with ease
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required
  • Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card at all times and follows health department guidelines
  • Must demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to interact with customers for a full shift in a busy and loud environment
  • Ability to work any shift including retail open, mid, and close
  • Part-time availability of 24 hours or less per week
  • Schedule flexibility including days of the week and time of day
  • Mid-week availability needed
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Job Qualifications
