Job Description

Grand Central Bakery, established in 1989, pioneered a bread revolution by introducing rustic artisan loaves to tables throughout the Northwest. As a Certified B Corporation, the bakery is committed to sustainability, embedding environmentally responsible practices into every facet of its operations, from sourcing wholesome ingredients to nurturing its employees and investing in the local communities it serves. This ethos drives the bakery’s mission to be a force for good, blending culinary excellence with social and environmental consciousness. With a strong reputation for quality and community commitment, Grand Central Bakery has grown into a respected fixture in the region’s food scene, beloved by customers for its authentic products and welcoming atmosphere.

Join the Grand Central Bakery team as a Cafe Team Member and become an integral part of crafting the lively and inviting cafes that customers love. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food and drink, committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences, and eager to contribute to a vibrant, collaborative work environment. As a Cafe Team Member, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the bakery’s high standards by preparing and serving delicious food and beverages, adhering to health and safety guidelines, and upholding the company’s strong values and mission. You will have the opportunity to work across various stations, including the sandwich bar and barista station, during flexible part-time shifts.

The position offers a competitive wage of $16.96 per hour plus tips, with average tips ranging from $7.00 to $9.00 per hour. This is a part-time role, requiring availability for 24 or fewer hours each week. Scheduling flexibility is key, as team members must be able to cover shifts during opening, mid-shift, and closing periods. The work environment is fast-paced and energetic, with a steady flow of customers, consistent noise levels, and occasional interruptions. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, basic math and computer literacy, and a dedication to providing warm, efficient service. Physical demands include working in a shared space with production facilities where exposure to various grain dusts occurs. Ideal candidates will have food service experience and demonstrate reliability through punctual attendance and engagement throughout the shift.

By joining Grand Central Bakery as a Cafe Team Member, you become part of a welcoming team that values inclusivity, sustainability, and community connection. This role not only offers a supportive workspace but also the chance to grow your skills in a dynamic food service environment dedicated to quality and social responsibility.
