The Café Team Member position at Grand Central Bakery is an essential role within this dynamic environment. This part-time role offers a starting pay of $16.96 per hour plus tips, with average tips ranging between $7.00 and $9.00 per hour. The Café Team Member is someone enthusiastic and passionate about food, coffee, and customer service. They play a key role in creating memorable experiences by preparing and serving delicious food and beverages while maintaining a clean and efficient cafe space. Team members contribute to the bakery’s reputation by serving sandwiches, coffee drinks, pastries, and bread with precision and care according to strict company standards.
Café Team Members must have flexible availability to work various shifts including Retail Open, Mid-Shift, and Retail Close, and crucially, must be able to work Sundays and weekends as the bakery operates year-round, every day of the year. The role requires proficiency with point-of-sale systems, cash handling accuracy, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy periods. Mastery of latte art and sandwich preparation is highly valued, as is the ability to maintain composure and positive energy while delivering exceptional customer service.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to work Sundays
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required
- Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card at all times
- Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time
- May be required to work a variety of days and shifts including weekends and holidays
- HS diploma/GED preferred
- Basic math skills required
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required
- Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card at all times and follows health department guidelines at all times

- Must display professionalism and personality with customers
- Stays thoughtfully busy at all times, regardless of customer flow
Job Duties
- Proficient on point-of-sale system
- Serves bread and pastry to customers while ensuring both meet GCB specs
- Makes and serves all sandwiches according to GCB specs including during a rush
- Makes and serves all coffee and espresso drinks according to GCB specs including during a rush and is proficient at latte art
- Displays product knowledge of all items on our menus
- Knows and regularly works the duties of multiple shifts including retail open, retail close, and mid/swing shifts
- Works in a way that maintains a clean cafe environment including bussing, washing dishes, and executing all necessary café cleaning tasks
