Job Description

Porter Hospitality is a progressive venture operating under the One Workplace family, headquartered in Seattle, Washington. This dynamic company specializes in creating thoughtful, human-centered workspaces designed to foster meaningful relationships, collaborative design, and promote productivity among employees. Working with leading global and local corporations, Porter combines innovative solutions with radical hospitality to transform office environments. The ethos of radical hospitality goes beyond traditional service by adding sincerity and integrity into every project, creating spaces that focus on the well-being and performance of the workforce.

Porter Hospitality is committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive culture. The company actively develops empathetic leaders and strives for increased representation across all levels of its operations. Removing barriers to employment and providing opportunities for career progression are at the heart of Porter's values. The company embraces equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status. This inclusive approach reflects Porter's dedication to fostering an empowering and supportive workplace culture.

The Barista position at Porter Hospitality offers a full-time opportunity with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22.00 to $24.00, plus tips. This role serves as a vital part of the hospitality experience by preparing and serving premium coffee and tea beverages as well as baked goods. Baristas will engage with customers, sharing knowledge about Onyx Coffee's unique flavor profiles and sustainable sourcing practices. This makes the barista not only a beverage preparer but also an ambassador of the brand and sustainable coffee culture.

Key responsibilities of the Barista include customizing drink orders, maintaining clean and stocked service stations, and providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment. The position requires handling point-of-sale transactions efficiently and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for patrons. A commitment to safe food handling and sanitation practices ensures a safe experience for both employees and customers. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain inventory and order necessary products.

Candidates for this role should have 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably within a hospitality or food service environment. Completion of food preparation, service skills, and customer service training is essential, alongside possessing a valid California Food Handler's permit. Experience or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is highly valued. Baristas at Porter Hospitality are expected to demonstrate excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a friendly and engaging demeanor.

In addition to competitive pay, Porter offers comprehensive benefits, including 15 days of paid time off, eight paid holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k with employer match, a wellness app with reimbursements, and profit sharing. This robust benefits package reflects the company’s commitment to supporting both the professional and personal well-being of its team members.

Working conditions for the Barista role involve moderate physical activity such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Employees must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work nights and holidays, and interact effectively in a team environment. Porter Hospitality’s inclusive workplace emphasizes respect, empathy, and open communication, enabling employees to thrive and grow within the company.
