Within this esteemed environment, the position of Cashier/Host plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient front-of-house operations. The Cashier/Host is responsible for accurately processing payments and providing exceptional guest service. This includes collecting payments, handling cash transactions, seating guests appropriately, and maintaining a positive atmosphere throughout the restaurant experience at Moody Gardens. The role demands strong attention to detail, an ability to manage cash in accordance with established accounting practices, and the interpersonal skills necessary to engage with guests tactfully and courteously. Beyond guest interaction, this position also supports operational cleanliness and assists in fulfilling to-go orders. Job Requirements

High school diploma preferred
Prior hospitality and cashiering experience preferred
Must obtain TABC and Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
Must be reliable and responsible
Basic math skills necessary to operate a cash register make change total guest checks count total bank prepare cash drops total all other charges and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing
Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations such as inaccurate check total
Ability to read and speak English sufficiently enough to understand menus special promotions and communicate with guests
Ability to operate a keyboard and a POS system
Ability to remain on feet throughout the shift
Ability to work continually in a confined space

Job Qualifications

High school diploma preferred
Prior hospitality and cashiering experience preferred
Must obtain TABC and Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations
Ability to read and speak English sufficiently enough to understand menus special promotions and communicate with guests
Ability to operate a keyboard and a POS system

Job Duties

Receive and visually inspect guest checks for any inaccuracies then close the check to the proper method of payment
Ascertain guest satisfaction and in the event of dissatisfaction tactfully negotiate accommodation
Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments check total certification tip disbursement cash drawer and house bank management
Balance house bank at the end of the shift
Receive all guests entering the restaurant and seat them in the appropriate server's section
Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere with health standards
Assist in placing to-go orders
Perform any other duties as assigned
