Job Description

Cafe Matcha is an innovative and vibrant extension of Alfred Coffee, a pioneering coffee company that began in 2013 on Melrose Place, Los Angeles. Alfred quickly gained recognition for its commitment to elevating the neighborhood coffee experience through consistent innovation, exceptional hospitality, and creative partnerships. Today, with more than 20 locations across Los Angeles and beyond, Alfred Coffee continues to lead and shape global coffee culture, setting new standards for quality and customer engagement. Cafe Matcha specifically focuses on the growing popularity of matcha, offering an elevated and approachable matcha experience inspired by both nostalgic retro diner vibes and modern beverage craftsmanship. The cafe blends creativity, community, and exceptional guest service to welcome longtime matcha lovers and newcomers alike.

Reporting directly to the Cafe Manager, the Assistant Store Manager is instrumental in fostering a supportive and motivating work environment. This role involves collaborating closely with management to develop team members, oversee scheduling, maintain operational standards, and ensure an outstanding hospitality experience for every guest. As a frontline leader, this role demands a dependable individual who can seamlessly manage shift execution while promoting values such as accountability, teamwork, and professionalism within the cafe.

The Assistant Store Manager helps maintain the momentum of the cafe with hands-on leadership in areas such as training, operational safety, inventory management, customer service excellence, and adherence to company policies. Serving as a bridge between the Cafe Manager and the team, the person in this role encourages continuous growth and collaboration among staff members, ensuring that every employee is equipped with the knowledge and confidence to deliver exceptional service. With a competitive wage starting at $23.00 per hour plus tips (approximately $25-$30 per hour overall), this position offers opportunities for personal development and career progression in the dynamic specialty beverage sector.

This role requires individuals who are passionate about hospitality, thrive under pressure, and enjoy working in fast-paced, customer-facing environments. An interest in matcha and specialty beverage culture is highly valued, as is the ability to communicate effectively, motivate others, and maintain a strong focus on operational details including food safety, cleanliness, and cash handling. The Assistant Store Manager also plays an active role in supporting sales initiatives and managing labor efficiently to contribute to the cafe's profitability and growth. The role occasionally requires flexibility for attendance at team meetings or company events outside regular shifts.

In summary, the Assistant Store Manager at Cafe Matcha is a key team member dedicated to maintaining the brand's high standards of quality and hospitality while leading by example. With a focus on team development, operational excellence, and guest satisfaction, this role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking company that values creativity, community, and ongoing innovation in specialty coffee and matcha culture.
