Job Description

Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) is a renowned hospitality company that has left an indelible mark on New York City's restaurant scene since its inception in 1985. Founded by the visionary restaurateur Danny Meyer, USHG has developed some of the city's most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars. These establishments are celebrated for their exceptional food, warm service, and commitment to what they term "Enlightened Hospitality." USHG's portfolio is diverse, encompassing acclaimed fine dining venues as well as an expanding collection of fast-casual concepts designed to cater to a wide range of guests and occasions. The group prides itself on creating experiences where hospitality and culinary excellence come together seamlessly.

One of USHG's distinguished brands is Daily Provisions, an all-day neighborhood cafe concept born in 2017 from the kitchen of Union Square Cafe. Daily Provisions has quickly become a favorite among New Yorkers and beyond, with locations in New York, Jersey City, Boston, and Washington, D.C. This cafe’s menu offers an elevated take on classic dishes, such as their signature crullers, all-day breakfast sandwiches featuring runny yolks, freshly brewed coffees and teas, and chef-driven salads, sandwiches, seasonal sides, and comforting dinner dishes like the famous Roast Chicken.

The Cafe Manager role at Daily Provisions is an exciting leadership position that requires a passionate individual dedicated to creating memorable guest experiences while fostering a positive and productive work environment for all employees. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Cafe Manager provides essential leadership and support to both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams. They work closely with managers at other Daily Provisions locations to maintain consistent, high-quality service standards, including superior culinary offerings and beverage programs.

The Manager’s responsibilities encompass cultivating a culture of Enlightened Hospitality that supports business objectives and growth, expert knowledge of beverage and kitchen operations, and being a hospitality champion who ensures every guest interaction, whether in-store or digital, is outstanding. Maintaining store excellence and cleanliness, managing inventory and understanding cost guidelines are key components of the role. The Manager must actively support all team members through every aspect of the service cycle and maintain compliance with health and employment regulations.

In addition to operational oversight, the Cafe Manager plays a critical role in employee development. Providing constructive feedback, enforcing standards, and fostering opportunities for team growth and development are integral. The position also involves participating in hiring efforts to grow the team strategically. The Cafe Manager must have strong communication skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and hold a NYC DOHMH Food Protection Certificate. This role prefers candidates with a bachelor’s degree or certification in hospitality or equivalent experience and values bilingual abilities, particularly English and Spanish.

USHG emphasizes the core value of Enlightened Hospitality, which is embedded throughout its culture and guides how teams collaborate and interact with guests. The company offers competitive compensation with an annual salary starting at $70,000 plus bonus potential, comprehensive health benefits, paid time off including parental leave, matched retirement savings plans, life and wellness insurance, dining credits and discounts, commuter benefits, and opportunities for professional learning and community engagement. Being part of USHG means contributing to a legacy of hospitality excellence and being supported in a career dedicated to people, growth, and creativity.
