Job Description

Imagination Station is a community-focused science center dedicated to providing informal science education through interactive exhibits and engaging educational programming. Imagination Station is currently seeking a full-time Café - Restaurant Manager to oversee the operations of the Atomic Cafe, a key component of the visitor experience. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and is integral to delivering efficient, profitable, and high-quality food service. The successful candidate will manage daily operations, ensuring smooth workflows, exceptional customer service, and adherence to strict food safety standards. The Café Manager will lead a team of café employees by providing training, managing schedules, and fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Responsibilities include ensuring cleanliness and sanitation meet or exceed regulatory requirements, overseeing financial transactions and cash handling processes, managing inventories and supplies, and collaborating with other departments to develop special event menus and seasonal offerings that enhance the visitor experience. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Job Duties

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Atomic Cafe ensuring smooth and efficient service
  • Train and supervise all café team members including setting performance standards and conducting regular evaluations
  • Create team schedules manage shifts and address staffing needs as required
  • Develop and implement a training program that emphasizes cleanliness meets or exceeds sanitation requirements and complies with all food safety regulations
  • Oversee cash handling financial transactions and end-of-day reconciliations
  • Ensure high standards of customer service addressing any issues or feedback promptly and professionally
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and food safety certifications
  • Monitor and manage budgets including tracking expenses and revenue to meet profitability goals
  • Schedule and oversee all equipment maintenance including cleanings and inspections
  • Manage inventory ordering and supplies to maintain optimal levels and minimize waste
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the visitor experience and satisfaction
  • Collaborate with internal departments to create special event menus and seasonal offerings
