As part of this dynamic and growing organization, the Urban Air Rockford location is seeking a dedicated Café Manager to oversee its Urban Café operations. This full-time role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and friendly running of the café, with a strong focus on team leadership and guest satisfaction. The Café Manager will be directly involved in day-to-day activities, working hands-on within the kitchen and service areas to cook, prepare, and serve food while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
The position requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance urgency with warmth and hospitality. The manager will lead and develop the Urban Café Team, ensuring all members are trained to uphold the brand’s standards and that operations align with established processes and policies. This role demands exceptional organizational skills to manage inventory effectively, oversee deliveries, and minimize waste through proper storage and rotation of products.
Additionally, the Café Manager will be responsible for setting a positive example in punctuality, attendance, hygiene, and overall conduct. They will maintain a clean, well-organized workspace and adhere to strict food safety standards, including holding or obtaining certifications such as First Aid/CPR and food handler manager certification. The manager will also engage in handling guest concerns with professionalism, participate in regular staff meetings, and support continuous team training.
Scheduling demands include full availability on weekends and a Friday to Monday workweek during the school year, with additional hours over the summer and extended hours days. Job Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
- minimum of two (2) years’ previous food and beverage experience (quick service and/or restaurant experience)
- 1-3 years’ management experience in the hospitality field preferred
- must be 21+ years of age
- must be available Friday-Saturday-Sunday-Monday
- must have a current ServSafe or similar Food Handling Certification, or be willing to attain within the first 30 days of employment
Job Duties
- Support the proper execution of all processes, systems, and standards
- ensure all deliveries are received correctly and logged
- maintain effective inventory control, storage, and rotation to minimize wastage
- manage the Urban Café
- Team, ensuring they always work to the expected standards
- adhere to scheduled shifts and is willing to stay beyond when business or circumstances dictate
- train the Urban Café
- Team in preparing the full menu and the front of house staff in preparing drinks and ready-to-eat foods to the consistently high standard required
- establish and maintain a high standard for the Urban Café
- Team regarding punctuality, attendance and attitude and ensure these standards are always maintained
