The Cafe Leader role at Blue Bottle is a pivotal leadership position designed for individuals who are passionate about coffee, hospitality, and team-building. As a Cafe Leader, you will lead by example to ensure that every guest receives an exceptional experience, turning each visit into a memorable occasion. You will oversee daily operations including inventory management, scheduling, payroll approval, and banking procedures while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. In addition, you will drive the achievement of business goals through sales performance, guest satisfaction, and profit and loss management. This role requires a strong commitment to sustainability initiatives, safety protocols, a collaborative work environment, and community engagement. A successful Cafe Leader at Blue Bottle is a strong people leader and business manager who inspires their team, sets ambitious goals, and ensures operational excellence. This position offers a minimum hourly wage of $34.50 and requires onsite availability with a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role emphasizes comprehensive leadership, operational oversight, and a passion for coffee and hospitality within an inclusive and sustainable company culture.

Job Requirements

2+ years of retail/hospitality experience with a strong preference for coffee, food, and beverage
2+ years of leadership experience leading a team of 10+ people
completed Blue Bottle Academy’s Barista training and validation program or will complete it within 90 days post-hire
existing Food Safety Certification required for the state you will be working in and for your specific role, or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire
this is an on-site position
you must have a flexible schedule and be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
ability to smell and taste
ability to listen and speak

Job Qualifications

2+ years of retail/hospitality experience with a strong preference for coffee, food, and beverage
2+ years of leadership experience leading a team of 10+ people
proven experience in hiring, training, and developing team members
completed Blue Bottle Academy’s Barista training and validation program or will complete it within 90 days post-hire
existing Food Safety Certification required for the state you will be working in and for your specific role, or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire
a strong understanding of a profit and loss statement and knowledge of how to impact it
comfort using computer programs, especially Google Drive tools (Sheets, Docs, Calendar)
ability to smell and taste
ability to listen and speak

lead the cafe team by setting a high bar for performance metrics, ensuring the continual surpassing of targets in sales, guest satisfaction, and overarching cafe goals
motivate team members to actively contribute towards achieving our company-wide sustainability goals, fostering a sense of purpose and shared commitment to environmental responsibility
